This is an intermediate-advanced modern/contemporary dance technique course taught by several resident dance faculty and guest artists. The diverse approaches of the instructors reflect a variety of trends in the field. The course promotes versatility and the development of a range of technical skills.
- Can be taken for credit or not-for-credit/fee.
- There are a total of 19 class sessions, May 2 - June 15

This MWF course overlaps with the JENNIFER HARGE INTENSIVE (May 8-18) and the HUMPHREY INTENSIVE (May 21-June 2). Daily technique classes will be held during both intensives, M-F, 4-5:30 PM/
* Unless you are part of the Harge or Humphrey intensives, you are only required to take the MWF classes. *

- Credit must be applied to Spring term 2018.
AADW Modern Technique, Section 101 for no-credit/fee only:
- $20 single-class drop-in fee, or $250 for the entire term (19 sessions).
- Fee applies to all those not enrolled in the course for credit (regardless of department affiliation).

Master teacher Biza Sompa leads this course that focuses on traditional dances of the African Kongo. Full of rhythmic, dynamic movement, the studio sessions are accompanied by live drumming.

Yoga

Students will participate in a flow-based practice that integrates breath and movement through physical postures. In addition to building physical strength and flexibility, this course is an opportunity for students to relax and restore in a low-stress environment. Taught by Nicole Reehorst.

This course involves students in the exercises of the Pilates Method, created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s to develop balanced strength and flexibility, postural alignment, and body awareness. This course will focus specifically on strengthening and lengthening the spine, and students will identify personal practice methods to take with them beyond the semester. Taught by Megan Bascom.
